Effect of Industry-based Training on the Electronic Technology Education Students’ Employability in South-East Nigeria

Abstract

Abstract This study examined the effect of industry-based training on the employability of Electronic Technology Education (ETE) students in South East Nigeria. The participants in the study include 86 undergraduate students of four public Universities that offer ETE as a course.in South East region. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire, adapted from existing scales in literature. Pearson Product Moment Correlation and linear regression were used to analyze the data collected. The finding of the study revealed that industry-based training had a significant positive effect on ETE students’ employability. The finding also showed that industry-based training had significant positive impact on ETE students’ acquisition of employability skills. The study recommends further strengthening of institution-industry partnerships and aligning training with academic curricula for optimum performance. This study contributes to existing literature by further advancing the understanding of industry-based training's role in enhancing employability in the context of ETE in South East Nigeria, providing valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and industry stakeholders
